Preparation for HLTA Status

Course Overview

The 3-day course prepares Teaching Assistants/ Learning Support Assistants to present evidence of their current practice and to be assessed against the HLTA standards. Successful completion of this 3-day course will lead to candidates being eligible for assessment to gain the nationally recognised HLTA status. 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they have experience of regularly :

  • working one to one with a child
  • working with a small group on children
  • teaching a whole class without the teacher being present 

Attendance at all 3 days is essential.A delegate must attend the  3 days in the Autumn Term , the  3 days in the Spring Term or the 3 days in the Summer Term

The benefit of completing the HLTA course is to improve standards and outcomes for children and schools whilst developing candidates’ confidence to reflect on practice and present evidence ready for assessment.

  • Monitoring and Assessment
  • Teaching and Learning Activities

Over the 3 days candidates will develop their understanding of the HLTA Standards, how to evidence the standards and complete written tasks and how to prepare for the final assessment

There will be a requirement for candidates to complete and submit tasks during the course prior to Day 3 for them to be put forward for the final assessment. The tutor will offer feedback and support on the tasks.

Delegates must hold Level 2 qualifications in Mathematics and English and bring the original copies of certificates on Day 1. In the event that these certificates cannot be provided candidates may take an accredited equivalency test.

Please note that a further fee of £500 is payable the HLTA North for the final assessment 

There is a minimum number of delegates needed for this course to be facilitated.
