About the Organisation

Childwall CE Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, creative and committed Early Years Foundation Stage Teacher to join our dedicated and supportive team from September 2026. This is a fixed-term position for one year initially.

About the Role

Main Purpose of the Job
To carry out the professional duties of a teacher in accordance with the Teachers’ Standards and under the reasonable direction of the Headteacher.

To provide high-quality teaching and learning, ensuring that all children are supported, challenged and inspired to achieve their full potential academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

The duties outlined in this job description may be modified by the Headteacher, following consultation with the postholder, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title.

Teaching and Learning
• Plan and deliver creative, engaging and inclusive learning opportunities in line with the school curriculum.
• Create a stimulating and nurturing classroom environment that promotes independence, curiosity and a love of learning.
• Maintain high expectations for all pupils’ achievement, behaviour and attitudes to learning.
• Use a range of effective teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners, including pupils with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and those with EAL.
• Support children’s early language, communication, phonics and mathematical development.
• Ensure effective assessment, recording and tracking of pupil progress to inform future planning.
• Provide children with meaningful feedback that supports their development and next steps in learning.

Classroom and Environment
• Organise and maintain an attractive, safe and purposeful indoor and outdoor learning environment.
• Promote positive behaviour and relationships in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy.
• Establish strong routines and high standards of care and wellbeing for all children.

• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times.
• Follow all school safeguarding policies and procedures, including Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Person Specification – EYFS Teacher

Qualifications and Training 
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Degree or recognised teaching qualification
• Evidence of recent and relevant CPD • Further professional development in EYFS
• Subject leadership experience
• Paediatric First Aid qualification

Experience 
• Experience of teaching within EYFS
• Experience of planning and delivering high-quality learning opportunities
• Experience of assessing, tracking and monitoring pupil progress
• Experience of creating an engaging and stimulating learning environment • Experience of working within a Church of England school
• Experience of leading an area of provision or curriculum
• Experience supporting transition into Reception
